Global Security Challenges students
Abhivyakti Sinha
Hi, I am Abhivyakti, a student of Computer Science whose interest lies in finding and analysing solutions whether it be a bug in a program or complex global issues. Usually engrossed in fiction, painting and music, I enjoy learning random facts about different subjects. I prefer a small crowd of people with whom I am the loudest and wish to travel around the world to study distinct cultures, traditions and customs. With some knowledge of technology, I enjoy solving programming problems and building robots (a new found interest). In the coming future, I hope to hone my skills and interests that will help in building something useful for society. Being more of a hands-on person, I would love to be part of a change that is for the betterment of humanity.

Bharath R Rao
Hi, my name is Bharath Rao, from the School of Arts and Sciences. On the academic front, I wish to pursue a 4-year B.A. (Hons) at SAI with a major in Economics and a minor in Environmental Studies, an area of increasing importance and interest. I wish to pursue a career in a field that is a combination of both areas. I wish to use skills I have learned from the IB program such as critical thinking, and collaborative working among others to analyze and examine various subjects in the first year at the university before I gather all my thoughts and focus on the choice of my major. On the non-academic front, I wish to learn globally recognized languages, develop a professional network, and hone my writing skills. I would like to intern with leading consulting/research firms that would sharpen my analytical skills. One extracurricular interest that I intend to passionately pursue would be Carnatic Vocal music, which I have been schooled in for over a decade.
Dakshajaa Kashyap
Hey! I’m Dakshajaa Kashyap, a second year undergraduate student at Sai University and I’m pursuing economics and international relations from the School of Arts and Sciences. My interests- academic and otherwise, have evolved with time but if there’s one thing that has remained constant, it is the love that I have for learning- through books, documentaries, conversations, traveling and everyday experiences.
People who know me also know about my ever-changing interests but I’ve always been passionate about economic sustainability, climate inequality, gender equity, mental health advocacy, philosophy as well as behavioral economics. The social sciences have stood out to me ever since I was young. I’ve begun to gain interest in the global use of economic sanctions, proliferation financing as well as counter-proliferation measures. Minimalism as a way of living, in an attempt to contribute to the earth’s wellbeing is something that I’ve been trying to incorporate for quite some time. I’m a trained Carnatic vocalist and I love expressing my ideas, thoughts and everything in between through the form of writing.
In the near future, I wish to understand how one can influence the economic - decision making of governments, corporations as well as individuals so as to maximise benefits while simultaneously minimizing harmful impacts on the environment, the global economy and the entire world.
Dhruva Nagesh
Heyo, I’m Dhruva, your friendly neighborhood nerd. I’m a freshman at Sai University in Chennai majoring in Politics and Economics. I’m a self-proclaimed sleep-deprived insatiably curious dreamer who loves his iced lattes and his citations. In addition to dunking on em hoops, you can find me writing for my online blog, snapping pictures for the grid, or sketching. I thrive in deriving solutions for complex problems and analysis. I've been called a “professional capitalist” by my peers for starting many small ventures throughout high school. I passionately advocate for education, animal, and medical rights and have led many efforts to expand access to the same in remote and ignored parts of India. I believe in the individuals’ power to impact the climate, society, and the world around us.
At Sai, I’ve begun exploring the intersection between Economics, and the financial system, and how that translates to policy making. I joined Sai because of its interdisciplinary curriculum, and its attempt to disrupt the Indian education system. I have been able to acquire a wide array of technical skills in computer science and development, and data analytical tools as well as in leadership roles.
Garima Singh
Hi, I’m Garima, a student of biological sciences, with a deep interest in global challenges. I’m especially intrigued by the environment, climate change issues and biodiversity conservation. I also like to research about the humanitarian crises in various parts of the globe and the peace prospects possible for the same. When there are no assignments over my head, you’ll find me engrossed in Political Sciences and History. I keep myself busy with new things, and aspire to learn something new every day. I am also fond of Astronomy and astrophysics. Health before anything and everything, a fitness enthusiast, explorer, and learner. I hope my aspirations and skills get into great use for the betterment of humanity and nature.
Jugal Shah
I Jugal from the School of Arts and Sciences, pursuing Economics at Sai University with a keen interest in International Relations, Psychology, and Physics. I enjoy cooking food from around the world and giving them the Indian spice, amongst playing multiple sports and spending a lot of time trying to come up with ways to make the world a better place. I am currently knee-deep in personal finance, and a talk about macroeconomics gives me joy like no other. As an astrophysics enthusiast, and a geek in geopolitics, it is amazing how big the problems of the world are and contrastingly, how small we are, as a species in the universe - just a blip.
Mahalakshmi
I’m Mahalakshmi, a student awed by the intricacies that I find in my majors of Literature, Cultural Studies, and Communication. Additionally, I’m fascinated by Social Psychology and I strive to connect all my above-mentioned interests in my papers; true to liberal arts fashion. Specifically, the effects of media— social media or traditional media on an individual or society as a whole— mesmerises me intellectually. In the future, I hope to use my above-stated interests and involve myself in contributing to academia by researching and writing against societal challenges of prejudice against minorities. Above all, I value art the most. And in the discourse regarding what art is and should be, I stand for artists and their choice in that matter instead of compelling artists to work for beauty or for social welfare. When I’m not under the pressure of a deadline, you’d find me writing poetry, playing the cajon, or engrossed in a book.
Sai Vishwath

My current hobbies include Football, Reading, Video Games, and Comics. I like to try out new things when I learn about them. Otherwise, where’s the fun in living a monotonous life?

I love listening to others talk about their passions and interests; I strive to learn bits of everything as I go. In my A levels, I took various subjects such as Biology, French, and Global Perspectives. At SaiU, I am majoring in cognitive neuroscience and minoring in International relations. As an extracurricular, I am a Bharatanatyam dancer and a Carnatic singer; who likes to spend the majority of her free time trying to learn the art of cooking. I could list all my interests here, but as a budding multipotentiality, I truly find myself being interested in a vast array of topics. I unintentionally connect neuroscience concepts in daily conversations, enjoy learning about world events, love visiting local landmarks to understand the history, and am constantly taking part in nature walks and cleaning drives by NGOs to fuel my love for biodiversity. In the future, I aspire to be a neuroscientist and analyse International events from a neuroscience perspective and sharpen my vast array of interests in understanding the world more efficiently.

Veda
I’m Veda, primarily a student of psychology though I often like to dip my feet in international relations and the social sciences. My interests have varied over the years from human security, war and psychology, gender studies to literature and cultural studies. I aim to work with refugees and IDPs in the short future in the field of psychology. Apart from my academic interests, I am a trained Bharatnatyam dancer and a Trinity school certified guitarist. As much as I would like to list all of my interests here, the list would go on. I love to meet new people and can work well in teams.
